Water

Our water theme was a great experience and a vast concept.

Children first learnt and observed the three different forms of water.

Children noted the water quantity was less after heating. They learnt about evaporation. On this follow up we did another experiment. We filled two glasses with water and marked the water level with tape. I covered one glass with clear wrap and secured it with a rubber band.  Then we set both glasses in our windowsill.  We observed them every day and recorded the water levels after about two weeks. Children noticed the water level was less and so the water had evaporated.

Children learnt about uses of water. We did a practical activity on washing our school van and pasting activity on clothes cut out for art.

Children learnt about the different bodies and sources of water. We discussed about the largest lake and longest river in Kenya. We also learnt about the lakes and waterfalls near Nairobi.

During the water theme we had range of experiments that children enjoyed discovering. During the Star of the week, children who had their turns their mothers also did some creative experiments. We thank and appreciate their efforts.

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school! We hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday with lots of time spent together with family and friends. Hopefully we are all ready to settle back into school with a fresh start.

Our classroom has also made some bright changes. Hoping it creates a better learning environment for our children.

We have also renovated "Baitul Mufaddal" and it is now all set for our children to enjoy role play.

Special thanks go out to all the parents who helped their children with creative writing during their holidays to share in class.

January will be a busy and excting month. We have a lot planned! Our grand milad program and milad activities will take place soon. The children are busy preparing and can't wait to share them with you!

This month we shall focus on reviewing all learnt last term. We will continue reading everyday and do lots more of creative writing. This month our new theme is 'water'. We have plenty of splashing activities planned out.

Parents Noticeboard: December

Dear Parents,

Its hard to believe our first term is over and Its time to get ready for the holidays! We have some good news. Kg 3 class has got its own new interactive whiteboard. We can't wait to use it from January.

Today your child has brought a letter home for you. Please do read it and reply back to them! :)
November Recap:
The month of November was fun. The children enjoyed learning about "Transport". They especially loved the "parachute" play! We then introduced another theme on 'My city and its Environment." Where children learnt about where they live and its surrounding.

It is rewarding to see our children growing academically and socially more and more each day! This term we have accomplished some interesting beginners "creative writing". In creative writing children write sentences about a given topic or from a picture provided.

We have also provided each child with their own spelling dictionary.  The Measured Mom has created these Spelling Dictionary printables for your young children.
These printable spelling dictionary serves two purposes:
1) Its word lists are a resource for children as they seek the spellings of words commonly used in writing.

2) It is a recording space for children to write the spellings of words they want to use in their writing.

We encourage you to let your child write simple sentences with drawings about any of their special experience during the holidays. We look forward to reading them out loud in class.

Please continue reading! If you have internet access you can read online on www.oxfordowl.co.uk Log in as Class: Kg 3 Password: 5253

We have also introduced extra sports coaching for Kg 2 and Kg 3 as an extra curricular after school activity. We encourage you to send your child.

We want to wish you all a happy and safe Christmas break and a wonderful New Year!

My City and Its Environment

We introduced the theme by showing them a globe. Showed them that this is a small version, a model of how the earth looks. We began by showing them the place on the earth where we lived, name the city and country. Children learnt the basic idea about the difference between city centre and country side.

We created our own city model!

Children also learnt about our country Kenya and about the Kenyan flag.
